Question: If a flash has a Guide Number (GN) of 40 at full power (1/1), what is the GN when manually set to 1/16 power? (ISO and zoom angle remain constant) (Answer as an integer)

Answer: For manual power output (power ratio) set to 1/n, the actual calculation uses the square root of 1/n, though the square root notation is omitted. Therefore, √1/16 is 1/4, so 40 × 1/4 gives an answer of (GN) 10.
