"Hone your skills by answering the questions" Nissin Digital Lighting Quiz: Question 2

"Sharpen Your Skills by Answering Problems" Nissin Digital Lighting Quiz #2 This is a monthly lighting quiz (6 questions in total).Just by thinking through the answers, you might improve your lighting skills!?<Question>Exposure Changes Based on Lighting RatioPhotos A through D were taken with the modelfacing the camera.Strobes (Di700A) are placed at aslightly elevated position 45 degrees to theLEFT and RIGHT of the model respectively.While keeping the output of the LEFT strobe fixed,we reduce the output of the RIGHT strobe by 1EV at a time, starting from A.For photo A, the camera (CAMERA) exposure value was f11.0 1/10 (ISO400). Now,please choose the combination of exposure values actually measured by the camera (CAMERA) for photos B, C, and D from options ① to ③.① B: f8.0 5/10 C: f8.0 3/10 D: f8.0 2/10
② B: f8.0 5/10 C: f5.6 7/10 D: f5.6 1/10
③ B: f8.0 5/10 C: f5.6 2/10 D: f4.0 5/10
The photos were taken based on the measured exposure values.
*5/10 and 3/10 represent 1EV (1 stop) in 1/10 increments as displayed on a light meter. They are not shutter speeds.
<Hint 1>
If you add another strobe of the same output to the same position as an existing strobe, the lighting becomes 1EV (one stop) brighter.
<Hint 2>
The photo taken with the right strobe turned OFF is posted here. Click the photo to open it in a new tab.
(The CAMERA exposure changed by only 1EV between A and E)
The [Answer] is at the bottom of this page.【Setting】【Photo A】 LEFT and RIGHT strobes at the same output【Photo B】 RIGHT strobe output reduced by 1EV【Photo C】 RIGHT strobe output further reduced by 1EV from B【Photo D】 RIGHT strobe output further reduced by 1EV from CShooting DataTo avoid the influence of studio ambient light,sensitivity is set to ISO400,and shutter speed is 1/125sec.The strobe output is adjusted to keep the aperture as consistent as possible.White balance is set to Manual (Preset).Light Meter Measurement MethodMeasuring the output of the left and right strobes at ISO400 resulted in the values shown in the photos. When measuring the output of each strobe, the light meter's lumisphere was retracted, measuring as a flat disc. This is to accurately measure the light output directed at the flat surface. Those are the values written in the LEFT and RIGHT sections.
The exposure labeled "CAMERA" was measured with the lumisphere facing the front of the camera, with the lumisphere extended as a hemisphere. This is to measure the amount of light suitable for photography by capturing all light.Model: Kotomi Kai

[Answer] ① Reason (example): As seen in photo E in <Hint 2>, when the right (RIGHT) strobe is turned off, the CAMERA exposure decreases by 1 stop. This means B, C, and D must fall within the range of "f11.0 1/10 to f8.0 1/10". Therefore, the answer is ①.
<Purpose of the Question>
It is useful to remember that adding one strobe of the same output increases brightness by 1 stop. This also applies when placing strobes of the same output in identical positions on opposite sides of the line connecting the subject and the camera, as in this problem.
