[Nissin Seminar Report Vol. 2] Macro Photography: Water Drop Edition @ Koenji
シェアする
Our first macro photography workshop in the Kanto region! Apparently, it was also the first time our instructor, acha, held a water drop photography workshop in Tokyo.
Thank you so much to everyone who participated!
For this Macro Photography: Water Drop Edition @ Koenji, with the continued cooperation of Tamron Co., Ltd. and Velbon Co., Ltd.,
as well as new cooperation from Focus Inc., we were provided with the essential gear for macro photography, just as the name suggests: the macro lens "SP 90mm F/2.8 Di MACRO 1:1 VC USD"; the also-essential tripods "Geo Carmagne E Series" and "Geo Carmagne N Series"; the perfect adjuster for precise composition and focus, the "Super Mag Slider"; and the lens mount adapter "KF-AAE (Sony (Minolta) A-mount lens to Sony E-mount converter)."
Combined with the Nissin Japan "i60A" and "Air10s," we achieved the "Ultimate Equipment, Revamped!"
[Part 1] 10:00 – 12:30 "Let's Try Water Drop Photography! Part 1: The World of Fluff and Water Drops – Year-End Special!"It began with instructor acha talking about collecting and preserving dandelion fluff. This time, all the participants were men(!) and the sense of tension was palpable.
The desk was crowded—it felt like a craft workshop.
As a "Year-End Special," the theme for the shoot was Christmas and New Year.
Whether expressing through color or capturing various things inside the water drops...
The fluff is so tiny that getting the water drops to sit just right, or even figuring out where the fluff was to focus on it, was a process of trial and error.
We even had to turn off the air conditioning because the breeze was causing the fluff to sway!
But thanks to everyone's passion and focus, the seminar room was buzzing with heat!
Despite the compact shooting setup, so many bold and delicate works were created.
You have to make sure your waterproofing is solid!
[Part 2] 14:00 – 16:30 "Let's Try Water Drop Photography! Part 2: The Macro World Created by Water Drops"Although we offered two sessions with different content, 9 out of 10 people participated in both! After burning through their concentration and having a good lunch, some might have been tempted to take a nap... Part 2 started with acha showing examples on the monitor.
Now began the battle against the falling water drops! It was a true test of dynamic visual acuity!
There were even experts who managed to capture the exact moment four water drops lined up... truly impressive.
Shooting rippling water surfaces is interesting, but capturing water columns and crowns is the real goal!
For a moment, the hearts of everyone in the seminar room beat as one.
Did everyone find a favorite shot? Please be sure to show them off on social media and brag a little!
It’s amazing how much lens rendering can change things, isn't it?

It's thrilling how something as mundane as "water" can transform into something so dramatic, isn't it? I would be very happy if you continue to enjoy the kind of photography that only the flash of a strobe can provide. I wonder if we'll receive some unique New Year's cards at our office...!
Thank you very much for all your support in 2018. We look forward to having you join our Nissin Japan strobe workshops again in 2019! And! Our next [Macro Photography] Beginner Strobe Workshop: Water Drop Edition will be held in Nagoya on January 19th. Tickets are on sale now! We look forward to seeing you all again next year!♪ acha instagram : acha_sizuku acha Twitter : @acha_photo(2018/12/26)
