Air10s

How to check the version

Turn on the Air10s and continue holding the power button. After holding it for about 3–4 seconds, numbers will appear on the LCD screen in two rows. In the case of the photo, it displays "Version 1-2".

Update Procedure

Required Items

  • A Windows or Mac computer connected to the internet
  • A microSD card*, card reader, SD card adapter, etc.
*Please note that cases have been reported where non-branded microSD cards have failed to perform the firmware update.
  1. Download the firmware file from the download link on this page. The file is compressed in ZIP format, so please unzip it on your computer.
    For Windows
"Right-click" the downloaded firmware file and select "Extract All".
Click "Extract" when the window appears.
The compressed file will be extracted into a new folder, and the firmware file will be generated inside.
For Mac (macOS 10.12 / Safari)
After downloading the file, click the Zip file in the "Downloads" folder in the top right.
A folder for the extracted file (blue) will be created; open that folder.
Confirm that the firmware file is inside.
  2. Insert the microSD card into your computer or card reader. If you are using a pre-formatted card, proceed to (4).
  3. If using an unformatted card, initialize (format) the microSD card. The file format should be FAT (2GB or less) or FAT32 (4–32GB). Cards initialized in digital cameras, etc., can be used, but please ensure the card is completely empty.
    For Windows
Be sure to select "FAT" or "FAT32".
    For Mac OS
Use Disk Utility. Be sure to select "MS-DOS (FAT)".
  4. Once formatting is complete, copy the firmware file downloaded earlier directly into the root directory of the formatted microSD card. Depending on the version, there may be one or two files. Please note that changing the firmware file name, creating folders on the card, or placing the file in a location other than the root directory may result in an unsuccessful update.
Only put the "firmware file" on the microSD card.
  5. Remove the card from the computer and insert it into the Air10s while it is powered off.
  6. When you turn on the Air10s, the LED on the side of the card slot will flash, and the update will start automatically.
  7. When the LED turns solid green after about 30 seconds to 1 minute, the update is complete. Remove the battery to force the device off, then remove the microSD card.

Notes on Firmware Updates

  • Be sure to use a microSD card with a capacity of 32GB or less, formatted as FAT or FAT32.
  • microSDXC cards with a capacity of 64GB or more, or cards formatted with NTFS or Mac OS Extended, cannot be recognized.
  • Do not put anything on the microSD card other than the firmware file, as this may prevent the update from completing properly.
  • While you can use cards formatted in digital cameras, please be sure to delete any folders or image data other than the firmware file to prevent update failures.
  • After the update, we recommend performing a reset (remove the microSD card and, while the unit is powered on, hold down the power button for more than 5 seconds). (Performing the update and reset will not delete pairing information.)
  • If the green LED lights up immediately upon starting the update, it indicates that the firmware file could not be loaded correctly due to dirt on the SD card slot or a poor connection. In this case, do not remove the microSD card; remove the battery, turn the power off, and try turning it on again. If the firmware file loads successfully after several attempts, there is no problem, but if you cannot update, the unit may become inoperable and require you to send it to us. We appreciate your understanding.

MG80 Pro

How to check the version

With the MG80 Pro powered on, hold the power button for 5 seconds or more. (Release the button after holding for 3–5 seconds to enter operation mode selection.)
The firmware version is displayed as two rows of three-digit numbers. (The photo shows "Ver. 2-3")
Releasing the button will reset the unit and switch it to on-camera mode; please switch the operation mode as necessary.

Update Procedure

(1) Prepare a microSD card* of 32GB or less, unzip the file downloaded from the link below, and copy only the unzipped file to the card. (If a folder was created when unzipping, copy only the contents, not the folder itself.)
*Please note that cases have been reported where non-branded microSD cards have failed to perform the firmware update.

(2) Open the cover near the group buttons C and D of the MG80 Pro to reveal the microSD card slot. With the unit powered off, insert the card so that the "card's top surface faces the group button (operation surface) side." You will hear a click when it is inserted properly. (The cover will not close while the card is inserted.)

(3) Powering the unit on will automatically start the firmware writing. The LED next to the card slot will flash orange, and after a few dozen seconds, it will flash red. Never turn off the power or remove the card during this process.

(4) When the update is finished, the LED will turn solid green. Simply remove the card to finish. Turn the power on again to confirm it operates normally and that the firmware version is correct.

  • If the LED lights up red immediately upon starting the update, it indicates that the firmware file could not be loaded correctly due to dirt on the SD card slot or a poor connection. In this case, do not remove the microSD card; remove the battery, turn the power off, and try turning it on again. If the firmware file loads successfully after several attempts, there is no problem, but if you cannot update, the unit may become inoperable and require you to send it to us. The firmware file will be generated in the specified location.
For Mac (macOS 12.3 / Safari)
After downloading the file, click the download arrow button in the top right, then click the magnifying glass icon in the window that opens.
Confirm that the firmware file is inside the folder.
※You may see an error message during unzipping like "Unable to expand '...' – unsupported format," but this occurs because it is trying to unzip the already-unzipped firmware file. If a new file has been created in the same location as the downloaded file, the extraction was successful, so you can ignore this message.
  2. Insert the USB memory stick into your computer. If the USB memory stick is already formatted, proceed to (4).
  3. If using an unformatted USB memory stick, initialize (format) it. The file format should be FAT (2GB or less) or FAT32 (4–32GB). New USB memory sticks are usually already initialized, but please ensure the USB memory is empty.
