MG-X Product Information

Magnetic Linkable Monoblock Strobe

MG-X Unit

A monoblock strobe with a lightweight, compact, and slim profile. Multiple MG-X units can be connected via magnets and operated as a single strobe. Designed to deliver peak performance when using 14500-type lithium-ion batteries with protection circuits, it achieves a fastest recycle time of approximately 1.5 seconds and approximately 360 flashes at full power.

※In addition to individual sales, we offer value sets such as 2-unit sets, protective case sets, and sets with a commander. Availability may vary by retailer.

Key Features

Machine Gun Strobe Equipped with a High-Heat-Resistant Quartz Tube

The flash head utilizes a high-heat-resistant quartz tube. Designed to withstand continuous full-power flashes, it allows you to focus on shooting without missing the shutter timing.

Magnetic Linking: Turn Multiple Units into One Strobe

A lightweight, compact, and slim body. Multiple MG-X units connected via magnets can be operated as a single strobe.

You can use them as a single powerful light source for outdoor daytime sync, or separate them for multi-light setups indoors, offering versatile configuration options.

*The maximum output of one MG-X is 82.7Ws. Two units connected provide 165.4Ws, and three units provide 248.1Ws.

MG-X Magnetic Linking

High-Speed Recycling in Approx. 1.5 Seconds*1 with Lithium-Ion Batteries

Designed for optimal performance when using commercially available 14500-type lithium-ion batteries with protection circuits (available from us), it realizes a fastest recycle time of approximately 1.5 seconds*1 and approximately 360 flashes*2 at full power. Other batteries that can be used include AA NiMH and AA alkaline batteries. (Batteries sold separately, except for rechargeable battery sets.)

*1 According to our testing methods
*2 When using a 1,000mAh capacity lithium-ion battery

  • For handling lithium-ion batteries, please be sure to refer to the "Using Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Batteries" insert or the "Instruction Manual" (PDF).
  • The flash surface becomes very hot after continuous firing, so never touch it with bare hands immediately after use.
  • External power supplies (such as the Power Pack PS 8) cannot be used.

Modeling Light

The white LED modeling lights located on both sides of the flash head can be turned ON/OFF via remote control from a commander (using the commander function of Air10s/MG80Pro).

Built-in NAS* Receiver

Using a NAS commander (such as Air10s), TTL flash control is possible via radio wireless communication. It also supports remote firing by sensing the flash of a master unit, similar to a standard monoblock strobe. (Does not have a sync terminal.)

* NAS (Nissin Air System) is our proprietary standard. It is not compatible with radio wireless systems from other camera manufacturers.

Supports Camera Manufacturer Optical TTL Wireless Systems

This unit can be controlled by Canon and Nikon flashes equipped with an optical TTL wireless master function.

First NAS System with Multi-Flash Support

While no previous NAS-compatible strobe featured a multi-flash function, this is the first unit that allows the multi-flash function to be controlled via a NAS commander. (The NAS commander only allows setting the flash intensity; the flash interval and number of flashes must be set on this unit itself.)
